The Ubiquitous Computing Cluster Programme in Finland is part of the national Finnish Centre of Expertise Programme. The main assignment of the cluster is to accelerate new globally competitive business in the ICT sector.

The ICT industry constitutes a wide, diverse spectrum of applications and services whose development the cluster boosts by means of tight networking between leading-edge companies, world class research centres and public enterprises.

Tekes' Ubicom - Embedded ICT 2007-2013 programme enables, for example, new kind of leisure services and new housekeeping solutions. Entirely new business opportunities are unfolding for technology developers. The programme has been subject to great interest already in the preparatory phase.

Tekes expects the programme to improve Finland's international competitiveness. ICT industry will have the opportunity to speed up commercialisation of new technologies, and the level of research is expected to raise considerably.
