UBI-SWBUSINESS.FI IN BRIEF
UBI-swbusiness.fi is targeted for the Finnish software business cluster. It serves multiple interest parties involved in the cluster. Main purpose of the service is to provide up-to-date information and to facilitate co-operation between the different players in the cluster.
UBI-swbusiness.fi is an international window on Finnish software product companies and the software product cluster. The mission of the service is to leverage first class regional knowledge, competitiveness and expertise and to serve as a resource for business operations.
UBI-swbusiness.fi belongs to the Ubiqitous Computing Cluster Program and is maintained by the Helsinki Region Centre of Expertise. The main assignment of the Ubiqitous Computing Cluster is to accelerate new worldwide competitive business in the ICT-industry. The base of the ICT-industry is wide, diverse spectrum of applications and services. Incorporating it is possible because of tight networking between cutting-edge companies, world class research centres and public enterprises.
The vision of the Ubiquitous Computing Cluster is that by the end of the program season in 2013, Finland will be the know-how leader in the development, commercialization and capitalization of embedded intelligence in human-centered, distributed, mobile and constructed environments.
The history of SWbusiness.fi
SWbusiness.fi was launched for the first time in June 2000. Since then the Finnish software business industry has expanded and nowadays it consists of over 1100 software product companies. This expansion together with strong internationalization of the business brought new needs for SWbusiness.fi. To serve these needs, a renewed SWbusiness.fi was launched in August 2002.
In January 2004 SWbusiness.fi was linked to two other cluster services and together they formed the Finnish Digibusiness -service family: Software Business cluster (swbusiness.fi), Digital Content Business cluster (contentbusiness.fi) and Digital Learning Business cluster (learningbusiness.fi). In April 2006 Healthcare and Medical Research cluster launched healthcarebusiness.fi and joined the Finnish Digibusiness service family.
Healthcare and Medical Research cluster has changed its name to Well-being cluster in the beginning of 2007 and since the end of 2007 Content Business cluster and Learning business cluster have been operating under the name Digibusiness cluster (digibusiness.fi). Living Business cluster has recently opened its cluster service (livingbusiness.fi) as well.
UBI-swbusiness.fi today
The look of UBI-swbusiness.fi was renewed in the beginning of 2008. Renewal's target was to make the sites more user-friendly with a clearer front page. To serve the needs of every user and enhance internationality most of the content has been provided in English. Today there are over 500 software companies and over 200 support service companies registered in the sites.
